The Pennypack Park Music Festival was born in 1977, and hosted jazz bands, big bands and string bands, thriving through the ’70s and ’80s. It ground to a halt in the early ’90s, a victim of changing musical tastes. Music came back to the amphitheater in the early 2000s with local tribute bands. The nostalgia concept appealed to wider audiences, and the festival now draws thousands every summer on Wednesday nights.
