Honoring all our veterans, the parade moved this year to the Benjamin Franklin Parkway Sunday, Nov. 10, 2024.

WWII veterans Benjamin Berry (left, seated at right) and Jake Ruser (right) are on a float with American Legion Post 405. The post, along with the Philadelphia Chapter of the Veterans of the Battle of the Bulge (VBOB) have been working for several years to erect a monument to honor those who served in WWII. They say. “Philadelphia has monuments to honor those who served in other conflicts, but there is no acknowledgment of those of our Greatest Generation that served in the largest land battle in human history.”

The parade was followed by the Veterans Festival on Eakins Oval, with activities, food trucks, music, and vendors. Also available were organizations where veterans and family members could gain access to such resources as job recruitment, health-care benefits and service providers, educational opportunities, financial assistance, and workshops.
