Pictures of unlucky - but lucky - driver in University City crash

Traffic was jammed in University City Wednesday, May 13, 2026, in the middle of the University of Pennsylvania's' student move-out day and a downed utility pole.

A cement truck hit an overhead wire at 38th & Walnut Streets around 10 a.m, Wednesday, that pulled a utility pole down on a Mercedes stopped at the light. Neither driver was injured and traffic was detoured for hours, causing backups on all the roads in the area.
