On the market: A four-bedroom Dutch Colonial in Narberth for $840,000
The owners are moving because of a job change. “We’re devastated” at selling, one owner says. “We put a lot of work into the house."
When Lindsay and Conor Flanagan bought the four-bedroom, five-bath house in Narberth in the winter of 2020, they thought they had found the perfect place to settle and start a family.
Lindsay’s parents had lived in the Montgomery County borough, and she always loved the community feel there. And she looked forward to introducing Conor, a native of Westchester County, N.Y., to it.
But COVID-19 and a job opportunity for Conor in strategy for the Hershey Co. have caused a change in plans, and they are moving to Chester Springs in Chester County.
This will allow him to make needed trips to company headquarters and her to commute to her job as a nurse practitioner in oncology at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.
Conor said that In just more than a year in the house, a Dutch Colonial built in 1910, COVID-19 has allowed him only “glimpses” of the real Narberth: “We talk to our neighbors through the fence.”
“We’re devastated” at selling, Lindsay says. “We put a lot of work into the house. But it’s best for our family.”
Conor’s tongue-in-cheek reaction: “I threw a wrench into all of it.”
The living room of the 1,847-square-foot house has an original stone fireplace, and the first floor has custom wood floors, a freshly designed powder room, and a dining area with a bay window. The enclosed front porch has herringbone ceramic tile flooring and a swing.
The kitchen has quartz countertops, white Shaker-style cabinets, a tile backsplash, and stainless steel appliances.
The finished basement has a new washer and dryer, half-bath, and ample storage. There is a wood deck and a fenced-in back yard with a cedar gate.
The primary bedroom on the second floor has multiple closets and an en suite bathroom.
The upper level has a fourth bedroom with full bath and flex space.
Additional upgrades include new HVAC, electrical, water heater, and roof, all installed in 2019.
The house is within walking distance of the regional rail station and a park and a short drive from Wynnewood Shopping Center and Whole Foods.
It is in the Lower Merion School District.
The house is listed by Lauren Hudson of Weichert Realtors for $840,000.
