The Union clinched more than just third place in the Leagues Cup on Saturday night at Subaru Park. By virtue of their 3-0 win over Monterrey, they also earned a berth in next year’s Concacaf Champions Cup (formerly Concacaf Champions League).

It’s the third time the Union have appeared in the continental competition that serves as qualification for the 2025 Club World Cup. The Union faced Monterrey’s reserves Saturday night because the Mexican side already qualified for the Concacaf Champions Cup.

The Union return to MLS action next Saturday at D.C. United (7:30 p.m., Apple TV+, free) and at 12-7-4 (40 points) are third in the Eastern Conference.
