At anti-Trump rallies in Greenland and Denmark, protesters wear mock MAGA hats

Large crowds of demonstrators marched through Danish capital Copenhagen (January 17) in support of Greenland's sovereignty, amid tensions over U.S. aims to acquire the semi-autonomous island nation.
Many protesters wave Greenland's red and white flag, while others hold signs with slogans like "Make America Smart Again" and “Not for sale”.
"I want to show my support to Greenland and to also show that I don't like the President of the United States,” says 76-year-old Copenhagen resident Lars Hermansen.
"I'm here to support the Greenlanders,” says 49-year-old Copenhagen resident Kristian Boye. “They are threatened to have their country invaded. I think it's totally unacceptable."
Aside from signs and flags, red baseball caps spoofing Donald Trump’s iconic hats have become a symbol of Danish and Greenlandic defiance against threats by the U.S. president to seize the frozen territory.
Instead of “Make America Great Again,” the caps are emblazoned with the slogans “Make America Go Away” or a popular version that red hat features a play on words: “Nu det NUUK!” — a twist on the Danish phrase “Nu er det nok,” meaning “Now it’s enough,” substituting Nuuk, Greenland’s tiny capital.
The caps intentionally resemble the baseball-style “Make America Great Again” hats sold since Trump’s 2016 White House campaign.
