Cardinal O’Hara alumna Maggie Doogan signs a training camp contract with the Phoenix Mercury
Doogan, a Broomall native, was a two-time Player of the Year with Richmond. She was not picked in Monday’s WNBA draft.

After going undrafted on Monday, former Cardinal O’Hara standout Maggie Doogan reportedly is signing a training camp contract with the WNBA’s Phoenix Mercury.
On3 reported that Doogan, a forward who played four seasons at Richmond, would sign Monday night following the 2026 WNBA draft.
The Broomall native was one of the top players in the Atlantic 10. She scored 2,138 points (second in Richmond history), averaged double figures in scoring in each of her four years, and was a two-time A-10 Player of the Year.
She first earned the honor as a junior in 2024-25 after averaging 17 points and 7.1 rebounds. She led Richmond to the NCAA Tournament as a No. 8 seed, where the Spiders beat ninth-seeded Georgia Tech, 74-49, before falling to No. 1 seed UCLA, 84-67.

Doogan returned to Richmond for her senior season and averaged 21.1 points and 7.9 rebounds. She was named A-10 Player of the Year for the second straight season, making her the first Spider to win the award multiple times. She also is the eighth player in A-10 history to be player of the year in consecutive seasons. She broke the A-10 record for points in a game with 48 in Richmond’s 91-84 triple-overtime win against Davidson on Jan. 10 and led her team back to the NCAA Tournament, where it was a No. 11 seed and lost to Nebraska, 75-56, in the First Four.
Doogan will join North Philadelphia native and four-time All-Star Kahleah Copper on the Mercury. Training camps open Sunday, and Phoenix’s first preseason game will be at home against the Chicago Sky at 4 p.m. April 25.
