The Eagles announced they will hold joint practices with the Dolphins in South Florida ahead of their third preseason game in August.

They already were scheduled to work out with the Browns before the second preseason game. It will be a busy two weeks mostly on the road for the Eagles. They’ll travel to Berea, Ohio, several days ahead of the Aug. 21 meeting with Cleveland for two days of practices and then likely head home for a brief stay before flying south.

Joint practices have become increasingly popular in the NFL with coaches often preferring the controlled settings with limited contact. The workouts, in some cases, have allowed for teams to rest their starters during the preseason.

Eagles coach Nick Sirianni adopted the approach last season with joint practices against the Patriots and New York Jets and is likely to use the sessions with the Browns and Dolphins as a means to prepare quarterback Jalen Hurts and other first-team players for the regular season.

“The joint practices, again, I’ve said it multiple times, it’s game-like, and the guys are juiced up to go and roll,” Sirianni said last summer. “So you’re seeing what they would be like in a game. So very important part of the process of how we evaluate and who we keep on this team.”

The Eagles will open training camp sometime around July 29, two weeks before the preseason opener against the New York Jets on Aug. 12 at Lincoln Financial Field.

Also Tuesday, the Eagles claimed wide receiver Josh Hammond off waivers. Hammond appeared in two games for the Jacksonville Jaguars last season.
