Television host Guy Fieri filmed at two Wilmington restaurants for upcoming episodes of Diners, Drive-ins and Dives, the long-running Food Network show that features casual neighborhood establishments around the country (and, inevitably, extreme close-up footage of Fieri chowing down on food like burgers, sandwiches, ribs and nachos).

The episodes are the first to feature Delaware visits by Fieri, who has filmed at numerous Pennsylvania and New Jersey restaurants in years past.

In an episode scheduled to air at 9 p.m. May 24, Fieri ate at Locale BBQ Post, described on the Diners, Drive-ins and Dives website as “a righteous spot smokin’ up chicken salad and off-the-chain chili."

In an episode to air May 31, Fieri stopped at Luigi Vitrone’s Pastabilities, described on the Triple D site as “a funky little Italian joint” where Fieri dined on veal scallopini and “outrageous” arancini rice balls.

Since Fieri started filming Triple D in 2006, he’s featured 20 Pennsylvania establishments, including Northern Liberties’ Standard Tap, Center City’s Good Dog, Kensington’s Memphis Taproom and the Pineville Tavern in Bucks County. Across the river, he’s made stops at more than two dozen New Jersey restaurants like the Vincentown Diner, Quahog’s Seafood Shack in Stone Harbor, and Maui’s Dog House in Wildwood.

With his outsized personality, bleached spiky hair and unapologetic love of bar food, Fieri has his share of haters and critics. In 2017, comedian Shane Torres voiced an impassioned defense of Fieri on Conan, asking, “Can someone please explain to me what the hell Guy Fieri ever did to anyone? … As far as I can tell, all he ever did was follow his dreams.”
