Sweet Amalia Market and Kitchen
Bright and airy, charming and chill, this roadside market and counter-serve spot on Rt. 40 in South Jersey offers some of critic Craig LaBan’s favorite flavors in the entire region. The fresh fish and produce are part of the picture, and Chef Melissa McGrath’s prepared dishes and sandwiches (available for eat-in, take-out and catering) are fast selling crowd-pleasers. But the biggest draw has got to be those farm fresh oysters, sourced from co-owner Lisa Calvo’s Sweet Amalia Oyster Farm on the Cape May peninsula. Jersey oysters are finally having a moment, and these briny bivalves are the Garden State’s gold standard.
