Philadelphia building partially collapses in Old City, crushing car
“I have no car. It’s gone,” Felipe Salceda told reporters after debris from the collapse totaled his car.
The facade of a building in the Old City section of Philadelphia partially collapsed overnight, crushing an empty car parked on the street.
The sidewalk in front of the building in the 200 block of Market Street was taped off Friday morning, and some rubble remained scattered along the walkway. The bricks fell onto the street from the top of a five-story building that houses the Lovely Bride bridal shop.
Felipe Salceda and Yarisa Rivera were out early Friday morning removing belongings from their car, which was destroyed by the falling debris.
“I have no car. It’s gone,” a stunned Salceda told reporters.
It’s unclear what caused the facade at the top of the building to collapse. No injuries were reported.
