Sixers claim former Rockets off waivers
The 76ers claimed former Houston Rockets James Anderson and Tim Ohlbrecht off waivers. The Rockets placed Ohlbrecht, a 6-foot-11 center, and Anderson, a 6-6 shooting guard, on waivers on Saturday.
Both players have two seasons remaining on non-guaranteed contracts. As a result, they will basically have to try out for the squad. The Sixers have until Halloween to guarantee Anderson's deal.
The 24-year-old was taken with the 20th overall pick by the San Antonio Spurs in the 2010 NBA draft. He played in 29 games last season, averaging four points, two rebounds and 10.6 minutes of action.
He averaged four points and two rebounds and 10.6 minutes of action. Ohlbrecht was an undrafted rookie out of Germany. He played in three NBA games and 32 games for Rio Grande Valley Vipers of the NBA Developmental League.
If they make the team, the squad could have three former Rockets on its roster next season. The Sixers officially acquired forward Royce White Saturday in a trade.
