NASHVILLE – James van Riemsdyk has become the fifth Flyer who has been sidelined this season with a concussion.

The 22-year-old left winger will miss Saturday's game in Nashville and will be replaced by Matt Read on a line with Brayden Schenn and Wayne Simmonds.

"It's really unfortunate. I thought we've had some good chemistry _ me, him and Schenner," Simmonds said."We've been playing well the last couple weeks."

Read, who has 13 goals, had recently been on the fourth line.

"I think we'll be all right. Reader is a great player, obviously," Simmonds said. "He's done wonders for us this year. It's fun to play with him. He's great with the puck and he makes those little plays that get guys open."

In a statement, the Flyers announced that JVR was hit in the head in each of the last two games. But three Flyers said they recalled van Riemsdyk getting hit in the head by Ottawa's Bobby Butler four games ago. Butler and JVR were college teammates at New Hampshire.

Chris Pronger, Schenn, Read and Claude Giroux have missed time this season with concussions.

Van Riemsdyk, 22, who has been the subject of recent trade rumors, has 11 goals and 11 asssists in 37 games. There is no timetable for his return.

With JVR out, Zac Rinaldo will return to the lineup Saturday night and be on an all-rookie line with Sean Couturier and Harry Zolnierczyk.
