Righthander Roy Oswalt, who has been on the disabled list since June 24 with lower back inflammation, has pronounced himself ready to return to the Phillies rotation.
Oswalt went 6 innings in a rehab start for Triple-A Lehigh Valley Monday night, allowing 2 runs on 7 hits. His fastball was consistently 90-91 and occasionally hit 92. He threw 90 pitches, 61 for strikes.
He's expected to rejoin the team in Denver on Tuesday, throw a bullpen in San Francisco on Thursday and then start against the defending world champion Giants on Saturday or Sunday.
Asked if there was any reason why he wouldn't, Oswalt grinned.
