Source says Temple still in talks with Big 12

A person familiar with the dealings, says that Temple remains in conversation with the Big 12 as the league looks for potential expansion schools.

A report by TMGcollegesports.com says the Big 12 has whittled its list of potential expansion school to six to eight. The report says Cincinnati, Houston, Memphis, UConn, South Florida, Central Florida and two other American Athletic Conference schools are on the list as well as BYU.

Last season Temple played in the inaugural AAC championship football game after winning the East Division. Football is the driving force for expansion.

Temple officials declined comment on the report.

The Big 12 is likely to expand, but there is a question as to whether it would be by two or four schools.

Houston, Cincinnati and BYU have been mentioned as the leading candidates. The Big 12 reportedly has been considering as many as 17 candidates.
