Sixers' Brown: 'I love coaching Dario'
MEMPHIS – You won't hear any complaint about Dario Saric coming from 76ers coach Brett Brown.
"I love coaching Dario," Brown said Monday. "He's tough. He's smart. He's everything that we thought he was going to be."
Saric is averaging 9.3 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 18 minutes of action through three preseason games. The 6-foot-10, 248-pound power forward is shooting 50 percent (10 for 20) from the field, including 4 for 9 on three-pointers.
He's expected to miss Tuesday's exhibition game against Memphis at FedExForum so he can rest.
After a long season in the Turkish Basketball League, the 22-year-old competed for the Croatian national team. He spent this summer playing in Olympic qualifying games and then the Rio Games.
The Sixers acquired his rights during the 2014 NBA draft. Saric, who has played professionally since 2009, signed with the Sixers in July.
It didn't take long for Brown to marvel at Saric and his work ethic.
"He goes hard," Brown said. "When I watch him out here [at practice], he really does. He's a prideful defender. He's a prideful worker. And that's just how he's wired. He's a pro."
