The Asian fusion restaurant la fusion, which opened four years ago at 15th Street and Oregon Avenue, is planning a move to Wing Phat Plaza, at 11th Street and Washington Avenue.
Owner Yenh Thivarath says she is taking the second-floor end of the row that is closest to 11th Street - across the alley from Nam Phuong - and is hoping to open in May.
Thivarath, a graduate of the Restaurant School at Walnut Hill College, said she is not certain when the 15th Street location will close pending the move. She attributes the move to a need for better parking (though my experience is that Wing Phat's parking lot is not unlike playing Frogger).
The new location, she said, will boast "sophisticated elegance," serving dinner (including a full sushi menu) from 5 p.m. to 1 a.m., with a late-night lounge and karaoke on certain nights.
Thivarath's first location for la fusion was Willow Grove, where it was a BYOB.
Wing Phat, by the way, is now home to the Indonesian BYOB Sky Cafe, which was forced from its home at 16th and Ritner Streets last October by a fire.
