At Zahav, get a taste of a new Viet restaurant

But first, he'll show off some of the menu Monday, Dec. 23 for seatings at 6 and 9 p.m. when he gets behind the stove at Zahav for its annual event "A Very Jewish Christmas."

Hosted by his boss, Zahav chef/co-owner Michael Solomonov, the $55-a-head feast will have four courses: Salad, Mezze, Entrée and Dessert.

Featured salads include: Pickled Mustard Greens; Maitake Mushrooms with charred ginger and onion; Fermented Cabbage; Jasmine Rice; and Pomelo Fruit with mint, shallot and cilantro. Mezze: Traditional Pho, with beef, sawtooth, Thai basil and rice noodle; Rice Cakes, with daikon, preserved turnip, Shiitake mushrooms; Entrees: Grilled Grape Leaves, filled with duck, Thai chili, palm sugar and cilantro root; Young Coconut Clay Pot, with chicken, lemongrass and kaffir lime leaf; Dessert: Chinese Donuts, served with Vietnamese coffee custard; and Papaya, in lime juice. 
 
A film, not yet determined but most likely rated R, will be shown during the dinner.
