B101 turns on the Christmas tree

B101 joined the Christmas music fray today shortly after noon, launching into Gloria Estefan's "Silver Bells."

Its normal  light-rock playlist will return Dec. 26. B101, the city's top-rated music station, gets monstrous ratings from Christmas music.

Last year's holiday sign-on was Nov. 20 -- but then again, B101 had only Wilmington's light-signaled WJBR (99.5) as a competitor.

B101's new Philly light-rock competitor Now 97.5 started yule tunes on Oct. 29, took a short break a few days later, and is still at it.
