Massive beer garden coming to Mellon Bank Center
Wednesday, July 1 will mark the opening of a lushly landcaped seasonal beer garden, operated by Teddy Sourias and associates (of Bru and U-Bahn), outside the Mellon Bank Center at 1735 Market St.
Office workers in the Logan Square area booed the news that a beer garden would not be set up - as previously announced - outside 3 Logan Square this summer.
Those frowns can turn upside down:
Wednesday, July 1 at 4 p.m. will mark the opening of Uptown Beer Garden, a lushly landscaped seasonal space operated by Teddy Sourias and associates (of Bru, U-Bahn, and Finn McCool's), outside the Mellon Bank Center at 1735 Market St.
It will run through September.
It will be in the entrance of the building and will encompass its adjoining open space, taking advantage of its 60-foot ceiling.
The 35-foot bar will be under cover. At 9,000 square feet, it will be among the largest beer gardens in the city.
