Buddakan chef leaves

His demo at Cook has been canceled.

Chef Mark Hellyar has called it quits at Buddakan.

Which might not matter to most patrons at the Old City Stephen Starr landmark, but will mean that the 16 people who have a $150-a-head, six-course cooking class with him on Thursday (12/8) at Cook, off Rittenhouse Square, won't taste his Vietnamese toro belly carpaccio with glass noodles, and jalapeno; edamame hargow dumplings with perigord truffle, and buttered ham broth; and laquered stuffed quail with a foie gras springroll.

The sold-out class, which I was to host, has been canceled.

Refunds will be issued, according to Cook.
