Chef shakeup: Anne Coll leaves Susanna Foo, joins Whip Tavern

Anne Coll, who'd been Foo's chef de cuisine for two tours of duty, quit last month. She had been working on the day-to-day at Susanna Foo in Radnor and was prepping for Suga, opening this fall at 1720 Sansom St.

With less than four months before Susanna Foo's return to Center City, she lost her chef.

Anne Coll, who'd been Foo's chef de cuisine for two tours of duty, quit last month. She had been working on the day-to-day at Susanna Foo in Radnor and was prepping for Suga, opening this fall at 1720 Sansom St.

Coll landed the executive chef's job at the acclaimed Whip Tavern, the Coatesville-area destination near her home in Chester County. She will start June 8, said co-owner KC Kulp, replacing Wyatt Lash, who relocated to Western Pennsylvania last fall.

Though Coll was unavailable to chat, Kulp said Coll would expand the traditionally British menu by using fresh, seasonal and sustainable ingredients. Sounds like a good match; Coll raises chickens and the Whip has its own garden.

While wishing Coll well, Foo said she would continue developing authentic Chinese dishes for Suga.

Coll worked for Foo before headed to Center City for a five-year employment at Meritage (20th and Lombard Streets). She rejoined Foo last summer in anticipation of the new restaurant.

Foo opened Susanna Foo Gourmet Kitchen in Radnor's Financial Center in 2006.

In 2009, she sold her landmark Center City restaurant Susanna Foo after 22 years. It's now a Chipotle.
