Cresheim Valley Grain Exchange coming to Mount Airy

Marvin Graaf, five years into Falls Taproom in East Falls, is ripping up the shuttered Wine Thief at 7152 Germantown Ave. in Mount Airy.

In about two months, he hopes to open Cresheim Valley Grain Exchange, a modern-meets-rustic restaurant plus bar.

A framer by trade from Hazelton, he's installing a new bar and walls - heavy on the barn wood and distressed, reclaimed steel, wood and glass.

Menu - and he lacks a chef right at the moment - will be modern takes on country classics. He wants to use local, seasonal and organic ingredients when possible.

The approach overall will not be as beer-heavy as Falls Taproom. "Earth Bread + Brewery and McMenamin's have that locked up," Graaf says, adding that the focus will be on food and cocktails with a "downtown feel."

"It will be more for date night than wing night."
