Magrogan sells Barra Rossa, closing Doc Magrogan's in West Chester

Musical chairs.

Restaurateur Dave Magrogan has sold his Center City Italian restaurant Barra Rossa to a manager. He also will shut down one of his longer-running restaurants, Doc Magrogan's Oyster House in West Chester.

Magrogan is proceeding with his plans, announced last year, to open a Doc's in Sea Isle City over Memorial Day weekend.

Magrogan also plans to open a branch of his Harvest Seasonal Grill & Wine Bar soon at Radnor Financial Center on Lancaster Avenue, where Susanna Foo was. He has another Harvest planned for the fall in Newtown, Bucks County.

Meanwhile, everything is status quo at Barra Rossa, at 10th and Walnut Streets. Nick Longobardi, the Italian wine bar's general manager since last July, says he took over the place earlier this month. He said he would not make immediate changes, and will keep the name.

The restaurant was called Stella Rossa at its opening in September 2013. Last December, Magrogan also sold the other Barra Rossa, in Downingtown, to Joe Milito. It's now known as Milito's.

May 1 will be the closing date of Doc Magrogan's in West Chester after 10 years.

The Sea Isle City Doc's location will be at 8600 Landis Ave., at The Dunes, a condo building. This restaurant will feature a private dining room for parties for up to 75 people and a 60-seat outdoor deck. Magrogan also will operate the Breakwaters Ballroom, a wedding and banquet venue.
