The Farmers' Cabinet, which had been operating as a BYOB after a state police raid on Dec. 18, has closed temporarily.

A sign on the front door at the bar, across from the Forrest Theatre at 1111 Walnut St., directs patrons to Sutton's Parlor, a related bar at 40 S. 19th St.

The Farmers' Cabinet's license had expired Oct. 31 but was operating on Dec. 12 and Dec. 18, when investigators bought drinks there. The police seized more than 800 bottles and kegs in a raid that lasted six hours.

Matt Swartz, who was running the Farmers' Cabinet, was accused of forging the posted liquor license to show that the bar was authorized to sell alcohol. Investigators say he told them that he did it because he was strapped for cash.

He faces a Jan. 2 preliminary hearing on charges, including a felony court of forgery.
