Fox & Son, a corndog stand, is coming to Reading Terminal Market

Two of the owners are longtime workers for Valley Shepherd Creamery & Meltkraft Grilled Cheese.

While browsing Reading Terminal Market, surely you've thought, "If only I could get a made-to-order corn dog." Alas, you've come up empty, your wurst fears realized.

But wait six months or so.

Made-to-order corn dogs and sides of specialty poutines, Birchrun Hill Farm squeaky cheese curds, and "dressed-up" baked potatoes will be part of Fox & Son Fancy Corndogs, opening in spring 2017.

It will occupy half of the former Salumeria stand.

Two of the owners, Rebecca Foxman and Ezekial Ferguson, have managed the Valley Shepherd Creamery & Meltkraft Grilled Cheese stall for the last four years.

Foxman also is corporate chef at Meltkraft, while in his past life, Ferguson worked for DiBruno Bros. for 13 years. The third partner is Kevin Kwan,  an Atlanta-based hospitality vet and classmate of Foxman's at Culinary Institute of America.

Need a for-instance? For one corn dog, Foxman will dip a Rieker's veal dog into corned beef hash batter and serve it with a runny egg, green onion, tabasco sauce, and ketchup made by Condiment, a Reading Terminal merchant that is due to open within two weeks.

Vegetarian and gluten-free corn dogs will be offered, too.

Grammarian note: Foxman has decided to use corndog as one word, following common usage of cheesesteak as one word.
