Girard on Girard: Breakfast in, dinner out
The so-called "no-tipping" restaurant will begin opening early - and closing earlier. Owner Brian Oliveira says he is listening to customers.
Fishtown brasserie Girard on Girard (300 E. Girard Ave.) is moving its hours as it approaches its first anniversary.
Starting on Tuesday, Dec. 1, the restaurant will open at 7 a.m. Tuesday to Friday and at 9 a.m. weekends to serve to-go coffee, breakfast sandwiches, house-made pastries, and a $5 weekday two-eggs-potatoes-toast--coffee special from 7 to 9 a.m.
Brunch will run till closing time, 3 p.m.
At the same time, the restaurant will stop serving dinner, with the exception of some pop-up dinners.
Owner Brian Oliveira said he was answering regulars' requests.
The new brunch menu includes:
- Ancient grain breakfast bowl, with sautéed apples, cranberries, candied pecans, goat cheese and herbs
- House-made yogurt, honey-almond granola, macerated blueberries, and lemon zest
- Baked mac & cheese
- French toast with orange ginger sauce and maple-hazelnut butter
- Avocado toast with house-made mascarpone cheese, grapefruit, and chipotle honey
- Quiche of the day
- Warm Buttermilk Biscuits
Oliveira says Girard on Girard is committed to its no-tipping policy.
Oliveira will host what he calls a grand reopening on Dec. 1, and he'll put out free drip coffee and bites from the new menu.
