Girasole to open Friday
The Center City theater district favorite will resurface in the Symphony House.
Girasole, a familar name to theatergoers from its 16-year run at 1305 Locust St. through 2004, returns Friday, in new digs just steps off Broad Street on the Pine Street side of the Symphony House.
The Iovinos, who in the years since ran South Philly's Nido and Mimosa, have set up two distinct areas: what they're calling a "warm dolce-vita-style dining room," plus a bar set up like a Mediterranean cafe.
Chef Angela Iovino will lead an all-female kitchen staff in the cuisine of Campania and Puglia; specialties include carpaccio, salt-baked whole branzino and homemade pastas.
There's an Atlantic City branch, open since 1990.
