In Exton, Vella flips to Forage

Chef Ralph Fernandez, whose background includes top jobs at the Moshulu and White Dog Cafe, is on board.

After six months, first-time restaurateur Derrick Wheeler, whose background is in business and engineering, has brought in an experienced hand to run his Exton restaurant, Vella.

Chef Ralph Fernandez, whose background includes top jobs at the Moshulu and White Dog Cafe, has changed the BYOB's name to Forage American Brasserie. It's in the Main Street at Exton Town Center complex (120 Woodcutter St., Exton, 610-524-3334). Rustic decor is pretty much the same.

Menu (here) has moved from Mediterranean to American, and dinner entrees are in the suburban sweet spot of $14 to $18.

Early buzz has been positive; its grand opening is Thursday, May 1.

It's open Tuesday through Sunday for lunch and dinner (Sunday brunch).
