Instacart delivers from Reading Terminal Market and HomeAway

Instacart - the grocery-delivery service that promises your goods within an hour - has been on a tear recently with its partnerships. Now, 32 merchants are on board.

Instacart - the grocery-delivery service that promises your goods within an hour - has been on a tear recently with its partnerships.

Want booze? The service has LCB approval to send bottles your way. A few things from the supermarket? Depending on your zip code in the Philly area, Instacart will drop off foodstuffs from assorted stores, including Acme, SuperFresh and Green Aisle Grocery.

In its latest move, which started this week, it is using its shoppers to deliver from 32 participating merchants in Reading Terminal Market.

In another deal, Instacart also has started a national arrangement with vacation-rental outlet HomeAway.

The Reading Terminal affiliation will be rolled out in phases, so - for now - you can't go online to Instacart and order a roast pork sandwich from DiNic's.

During the first phase of the program, offerings are limited to shelf stable and noncustomized, refrigerated products such as prepackaged grocery items, produce and bakery goods. Cooked foods (such as sandwiches) will start later.

Among the participants (some offering a limited selection): 12th Street Cantina, Amy's Place, Bassetts Ice Cream, Bee Natural, Border Springs Farm Lamb, By George! Pizza, Pasta & Cheesesteaks, Chocolate By Mueller, Downtown Cheese, Fair Food Farmstand, Famous 4th Street Cookie Company, Flying Monkey Bakery, Giunta's Prime Shop, Godshall's Poultry, Golden Fish Market, Herbiary, Hershel's East Side Deli, Iovine Brothers Produce, John Yi Fish Market, Jonathan Best Gourmet Grocer, Market Bakery, Metropolitan Bakery, Nanee's Kitchen, Old City Coffee, Pennsylvania General Store, Salumeria, Tea Leaf, Termini Brothers Bakery, Terralyn – Bath, Body, Spirit, The Tubby Olive, Valley Shepherd Creamery, Wan's Seafood, and Wursthaus Schmitz.

Meanwhile, HomeAway - the vacation-rental site - is pairing with Instacart to allow renters to have their vacation homes stocked with food upon arrival.

This applies to people who set up a vacation spot in Instacart's delivery areas. Let's say you're an exec from Boston and you're staying in a HomeAway rental in Center City or in Austin or Denver. The partnership will allow you to have groceries waiting for you. This affiliation will be more meaningful to people in the Philly area when Instacart begins servicing the Jersey Shore.

HomeAway also has a deal with Uber to allow travelers to book transportation from the airport or while staying in their rental property. The integration has rolled out initially in the U.S., with plans to ultimately include 200-plus destinations where Uber operates around the world.
