Luke Palladino opens steakhouse at Valley Forge Casino

He was not going to include pasta on the menu, but a longtime customer challenged him to devise an over-the-top macaroni and cheese. This version has prosciutto, Parmigiano cream, black truffle, poached egg, and gold leaf.

Luke Palladino - his eponymous Italian restaurant on cruise control on Passyunk Avenue - is opening LP Steak at the Valley Forge Casino Resort (1160 First Ave., King of Prussia, 610-768-5003). Debut is Friday, Oct. 16.

In some respects, it's a revival. Palladino briefly ran an LP Steak two years ago in Northfield, N.J., as his Luke Palladino Seasonal Italian Cooking (now in Linwood) was ending its lease.

The Valley Forge LP Steak, a low-lit, contemporary affair with a roomy bar, is more than six times the size. Steak house menu is augmented by such dishes as grilled 1732 paprika bacon; pierogies from the family recipe of his girlfriend, Kristine Kurilko; and a creation called Millionaire's Maccheroni.

He was not going to include pasta on the menu, but a longtime customer challenged him to devise an over-the-top macaroni and cheese. This version has prosciutto, Parmigiano cream, black truffle, poached egg, and gold leaf. Entrees start at $24.

Hours are 5 to 10 p.m. Sunday to Thursday, till 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
