Now open: Fitzwater Street Philly Bagels

Graduate Hospital is on a roll. Also, more Philly-area bagel news.

Fitzwater Street Philly Bagels is rolling them out in the Graduate Hospital neighborhood, marking a further expansion in the empire overseen by Aaron Wagner and family (Chestnut Street Philly Bagels at 1705 Chestnut St., South Street Bagels at 613 S. Third St., and The Bagel Spot in Cherry Hill).

The new location, taking the former Beauty Shop Cafe at 2001 Fitzwater St. (267-534-5995), is open from 6:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily with assorted bagels, specialty sandwiches, and hot and cold-brew coffee.

Wagner plans a grand opening party on Sept. 24-25 with balloon artists and face-painters.

Also note: Chestnut Street Philly Bagels is getting into later hours starting Oct. 1, open till 10 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays. Nothing says pregaming in Rittenhouse like a pizza bagel.

And to round up regional bagel news (besides this week's opening of a Spread Bagelry location in University City): Mount Royal Bagel Company, a Montreal-style shop in Marlton Crossing Shopping Center in Marlton, closed over Labor Day after 2½ years.
