Officer's widow is a winner at Badges of Honor

Kim Pawlowski, widow of Police Officer John Pawlowski, was the top female finisher among police in Saturday's 5K race.

Kim Pawlowski, widow of Police Officer John Pawlowski, was the top female finisher among police personnel in Saturday's second annual Badges of Honor 5K, a benefit for the families of emergency personnel killed in the line of duty.

When John Pawlowski was killed in February 2009, Kim was pregnant with their son, John III, who turns a year old on June 11.

Her time for the 5K was 24:01. She played soccer in college and likes to run. She's also training for the Irish Pub Tour de Shore bike race in July.

As for her psyche: "I'm surviving, just taking one day at a time," Kim, 26, said.
