Philly Beer Week: Everybody wants to get in on the act

A festival on Sunday, June 3 to draw 40 breweries.

Friday, June 1 is the launch of Philly Beer Week 2012, as the Hammer of Glory is toured through the streets of Philadelphia and beer lovers converge that evening at the Independence Visitor Center at Sixth and Market Streets for the Opening Tap festivities, a grand tasting that draws dozens of breweries and restaurants.

Riding in completely on Beer Week's coattails is the inaugural Willow Grove Craft Beer Festival, noon to 5 p.m. Sunday, June 3. The rump event, benefiting Willow Grove Community Services Inc., will take over the shuttered Ross Dress for Less store in the Plaza at Willow Grove Park (2500 Moreland Rd., next to Dick's) with what organizers say will be 40 local, national and international breweries serving more than 100 microbrews. Info is here.
