iPHO: Vietnamese dining on Fairmount Ave.

Van Nguyen hits the usual menu items: rice vermicelli, broken rice, pho, the spicy noodle soups known as hu tieu mi, and two banh mi.

The Francisville space housing the Latin BYOB BlueCat didn't stay vacant for long.

Now open is iPHO (1921 Fairmount Ave., 215-763-7777), a contemporary Vietnamese bistro/cafe that's an offshoot of Van Nguyen's Atlantic City eatery. (I suppose that makes this a second-generation iPHO.)

Partnered with Fare's Andy Siegel and Fairmount Pizza's Savvas Novrosidis, Nguyen hits the usual menu items: rice vermicelli, broken rice, pho, the spicy noodle soups known as hu tieu mi, and two banh mi.

Siegel says the corner shop, which is keeping prices low (app and dinner for under $15), is doing brisk takeout and delivery in its early going. Decor is cheery; a mural of bamboo has replaced the previous tenant's mural depicting a Russian blue kitty.

Hours are 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily. The website should be online shortly.
