Restaurant notes: Morimoto in town for a benefit; Feastival returning
The Iron Chef wants to raise 30 grand for Japan.
And now for some charitable endeavors:
Iron Chef Masaharu Morimoto will visit Morimoto on June 7 to host a fundraiser for the Philadelphia-Japan Disaster Relief Fund. All proceeds (the goal is $30,000) will go to charity as Morimoto prepares a 200-pound tuna during a cocktail-hour demonstration. Next will be a five-course omakase tasting menu, whose dishes will include toro tartare with guacamole panna cotta and hamachi pastrami, and a Morimoto surf & turf with lobster and wagyu. It's $300 a head in the dining room and $400 a head in the private omakase room, which includes two extra courses and one-on-one time with Morimoto*. Starts at 6:30 p.m. Details at 215-413-9070.

Feastival, the food-and-fun benefit for the Philadelphia Live Arts Festival and Philly Fringe, will be back for seconds. It will be 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 14 at Pier 9, at 121 N. Columbus Blvd. Chairs again will be Stephen Starr, Michael Solomonov, and Audrey Claire Taichman, with help from Martha McGeary Snider and Tony Forte, and board chairman Richard Vague.
