Restaurant notes: Coleman in Blue Bell gives way to The Farmer's Daughter
Opening is Friday.
Normandy Farm, the conference center and hotel in Blue Bell, is grand-opening The Farmer's Daughter on Friday (2/25).
Four months in the making, it represents an expansion/reconfiguration of the former Coleman Restaurant that adds a 90-seat bar built around a fireplace, set up in a candlelit, farm-chic atmosphere.
Chef Corey Fair, also the property's food and beverage director, is going for a "fresh-only" approach, not only to the American menu but to the bar list, whose drinks will incorporate local fruits and vegetables. (Be suspicious, though, if they come up with a banana drink someday.) Local beers will predominate. Here's the bar menu.
Lunch prices start at $9, and dinner prices run from the high teens to the $30s. Fair also offers a "sharing" option on several entrees ($30 to $55), as well as a three-course, $35 prix-fixe dinner and a six-course, $55-a-head family style dinner (for eight or more) at the chef's table.
The Farmer's Daughter will serve lunch, dinner, and Sunday brunch. Blog is here.
As for Jim Coleman himself: After leaving Normandy last year (and his radio show at WHYY), he spent a hot moment at World Cafe Live in University City but is between jobs.
