Smith & Wollensky confirms closing date
Its finale - without fanfare - will be May 23.
Smith & Wollensky's last day at the Rittenhouse Hotel (210 W. Rittenhouse Square) will be May 23, the steakhouse's management confirmed.
It opened in 2000, succeeding the similarly white-tablecloth Nicholas Nickolas.
Since closing had been scheduled for midsummer, a May date suggests that a new tenant is close to a lease.
Hersha Hospitality Trust bought the hotel in 2012 and has been renovating it, as Center City's upper-end hostelries gear up for the Four Seasons' closing June 6.
The luxe Lacroix at the Rittenhouse, on the hotel's second floor and operated by the hotel, is unaffected.
