South Helm: Pennsport gets a BYOB

Smaller plates at Front and Morris.

South Helm, the Pennsport branch of Michael Griffiths and Kevin D'Edigio's Kensington farm-to-table BYOB hit Helm, will open to the public Saturday, June 4.

At South Helm, they offer a similar style - local ingredients cooked with clever, modern approaches - but the portioning is on the smaller side.

The initial blackboard menu - note the quip "yous enjoy" - includes seafood fra diavolo with chickpea and basil ($14) and quail with mushroom and hakurei ($14).

Sous chef Jon Adair will be holding down South Helm, as Griffiths and D'Edigio pop in from the Fifth Street location, which tends to seat dinner patrons early.

Initial hours are  5 to 10 p.m. Tuesday to Friday, 5 to 10:30 p.m. Saturday.

Cards are accepted. No reservations.
