Stove & Tap opens in Lansdale
It's a neighborhood pub, couples'-night-out spot, and even a family destination.
Now open in downtown Lansdale is Stove & Tap (329 W. Main St., Lansdale, 215-393-8277), which seems to be hitting the basics at the former Molly Maguire:
It's a neighborhood pub, couples'-night-out spot, and even a family destination. It's open from lunchtime through late night daily.
Justin Weathers, a former manager with Starr Restaurant Organization, says he was inspired by The Dandelion, among the restaurants he handled, in terms of the "classic vintage look." Stove & Tap does have a few pieces of rich furniture and even a full-size stuffed brown bear in the window, but none of the froufrou.
Weathers and business partner Matt Moyer installed a wood-fired grill for chef Benjamin "Biff" Gottehrer, a former sous chef at The Dandelion, El Vez, and JG Domestic.
The affordable menu includes classic pub dishes, pastas, and flatbreads. Weathers proudly has the burger priced at $9.50 (including fries or salad) because, he says, $10 seems to be a benchmark for a better burger. Hanger steak and plank salmon, at $18.50, are the most expensive dishes on the regular menu.
Only American wines are offered, and the dozen taps include American microbrews. The specialty cocktail list includes a Lansdale Mule, made with hometown Boardroom vodka
Weathers and Moyer's company, HFA Bridge, is normally on the other side of the restaurant table, as it consults with restaurateurs on such matters as accounting and capital.
