Temple looking for a flagship restaurant
Morgan Hall - with 1,200 beds for student housing on its 27 floors - is rising at the southeast corner of Broad Street and Cecil B. Moore Avenue.
It's only taken 129 years, but Temple University is seeking a large-scale restaurant for its North Philly campus, a feature that other big-city university neighborhoods regard as a given.

Included in the plan for the ground floor is a restaurant of 6,165 square feet. The space has about 100 feet of frontage along Cecil B. Moore. (The space is roughly equivalent to the Harvest at 40th and Walnut Street, the ground floor of Continental Mid-town, or the former Marathon/Square Peg at 10th and Walnut Streets.)
As Temple has grown, its restaurant portfolio is basically of the quick-serve variety - and on the way are even more such eateries including Chipotle and Tony Luke's. The campus area has other, unaffiliated restaurants, such as the Draught Horse (and a forthcoming sports bar at Carlisle and Oxford Streets), as well as a booming food-truck scene.
By contrast, Penn and Drexel have dozens of restaurant tenants in their portfolio.
Broker Jacob Cooper of Michael Salove Co. says he has a few candidates considering the Morgan Hall space.
