The buzziest bars in Philly

Owner Mo Yehia tells me that his folks compared the activity across Twitter, Facebook, Yelp, and Foursquare of every bar in five major U.S. cities, taking into account how often fans interacted with the social content that bars posted.

Sidewalk then gave each bar a numeric score from 1-100 based on the total number of social interactions it received relative to other bars in that city to determine the five most talked about watering holes.

In short, he says, the Sidewalk Score analyzes online word of mouth or buzz. The buzziest bars proactively engage with patrons online, have huge online followings, and are highly reviewed and adored. This results in crowds of chatty, loyal patrons, more word of mouth, and increased revenue.

Tops in Philly - and this should be no surprise - was PYT - Tommy Up and Sarah Brown's burger destination in Northern Liberties, whose in-your-face style works for and against it. This is the place that called out Eagles RB LeSean McCoy for his 20-cent tip.

Also on the Philly list are Xfinity Live, Continental Midtown, Monk's Cafe and Brauhaus Schmitz.
