Garces selling tickets for dinner at Volver

It is the first move of its kind in Philly - a rare strategy that virtually eliminates the no-show. (L.A.'s Trois Mec, a 26-seater, is doing it quite successfully.)

You buy tickets for a show at the Kimmel Center, right?

Now you'll have to buy tickets for dinner at Volver, the Jose Garces restaurant coming to the ground floor in April.

It is the first move of its kind in Philly - a rare strategy that virtually eliminates the no-show. (L.A.'s Trois Mec, a 26-seater, is among those doing it quite successfully.)

And like the cost of a show ticket, this is not cheap. When all is said and done, Volver will be among Philadelphia's most expensive restaurants.

Tickets may be purchased up to 60 days in advance, with new tickets released every 30 days.

Garces' PR arm says Volver's 34-seat dining room will offer two nightly seatings for parties of two, four or six guests. The pre-theater tasting menu will feature eight courses ranging from $75 to $120 per person. The second seating will feature a first course of four snacks, followed by 12 courses, ranging from $175 to $250 per person. Ticket purchase includes a table for two, four, or six guests, sparkling and still water; extra are a 20 percent service charge and tax. (A block away, Vetri charges $155 for its fixed-price, plus tax, tip and beverages.)

Tickets go on sale March 12, though the restaurant's opening date is not yet announced.

There are two environments in Volver: the dining room and the lounge. While the dining room is reserved for ticket holders only, tickets are not required for the lounge as it is open seating where walk-ins are welcome.

Two wine pairings will be available for guests during both seatings at Volver. Beverage pairings may be added at the time of ticket purchase or upon dining. A la carte beverage selections, including sparkling wine and wine by the glass or bottle, spirits and non-alcoholic options, may be ordered during the meal.
