Travinia Italian Kitchen, which opened in November 2015 down the row from the Fillmore in Fishtown, has closed.

The unit of a chain based in what founder Mark Craig called "that hotbed of Italian food, Greenville, South Carolina" never had much of a chance.

For reasons unknown, a liquor license was applied for but never secured - not exactly the best course of business for a wine bar.

Also, Travinia was hard to get to for many months. Allen Street just east of the Route 15 trolley turnaround at Frankford Avenue, along most of the restaurant's exterior, was torn up during a major city storm-water project.

I hear that a local group will take the space. Stay tuned.
