Up on a roof: Bok Bar opens in South Philly
Bok Bar, serving Viet/Filipino food, will be operated by the building's owner, Scout Ltd.
Drinks with a view, and banh mi, too.
The rooftop space atop the former Bok Technical High School on Mifflin Street near Eighth in South Philadelphia will become a bar for the second consecutive summer.
Drink list includes 10 wines (2 roses, 2 bubbles, 3 reds, 3 whites), plus a dozen beers in bottles and cans.
Scout, which bought the Bok building in 2014 from the School Reform Commission, is setting it up as an affordable mixed-use facility that offers amenities, space, and services to South Philadelphia.
A permanent indoor restaurant is on its way.
Asked how long in the season Bok Bar will operate, Scannapieco replied: "Until it's too cold."
