Volver takes a summer vacation
Bar Volver will take off for six weeks. The restaurant will return just before Labor Day.
Summertime in the city, by and large, is a tough season for fine dining.
And so, effective July 1, Volver - the Jose Garces restaurant and bar in the Kimmel Center - will be on holiday, more or less reflecting the Kimmel's performance season.
Both the dining room and Bar Volver are now closed.
On Aug 12, 2015, Bar Volver will reopen with a full food and beverage menu, including a recently upgraded and diversified menu of bar specialties.
Volver's dining room will reopen on Sept. 2 with a new eight-tasting menu for $95 and 12-course tasting menu for $150.
If you're keeping score:
Garces' folks just started running the food at T Street, aka the Playground, at the former Pier at Caesars.
Meanwhile, they're planning the still-unnamed cafe/test kitchen at Garces' headquarters at 2401 Walnut St.; working on a more casual permutation of Rosa Blanca, the Cuban spot at 707 Chestnut St. for fall; and - I hear - scouting for a Center City location of Buena Onda, the beach-theme taqueria.
