We have a winner: New Year's Eve dinner at Sabrina's

A reader touched us with her resolution to move on after her husband's passing.

Our question: "What is your New Year's resolution? And more importantly, why are you making it?"

The prize for our favorite answer: Dinner for two on New Year's Eve at Sabrina's Cafe, 1804 Callowhill St., which is offering a prix-fixe menu. (Only a few seats remain, by the way. See the deal here.)

Your stories were both touching ("spend more time with my wife") and hilarious ("I am giving up supermodels. I am just too tired of having to deal with their pretentiousness and I rather start dating normal females"). One new mother used rhyme to describe the loss of romance with her husband ("I resolve to have more sex / Before my hubby turns into ex" was how her plea for a romantic night out began). One expectant mom vowed to complete everything on her "Pre-Baby Bucket List" - 30 items, one for each week left in her pregnancy.

Joan Kaplan of Cherry Hill moved us the most with one sentence: "Having lost my beloved husband and best friend of almost 50 years, I decided after being his caretaker for 24/7 due to multiple bouts of cancer that instead of feeling depressed and remorse, that I would spend more time with family and friends, give more of myself to charity and my community and to do some living of life for myself."

Thanks for sharing your stories and writing in.

In other contest news, it's not too late to enter our drawing: dinner for two at Cuba Libre in Old City. Details are here.
