Wrap Shack opening in Washington Square West

The Rittenhouse bar is opening in the Baum Building, near 11th and Chestnut Streets.

Wrap Shack, which grew from a modest sandwich shop on 18th Street near Sansom into a bar with a serious beer selection, is planning a new location seven blocks away in Washington Square West.

Scott Hockfield has inked a deal at 112 S. 11th St., taking part of the under-construction Baum Building, next to MilkBoy. (That's the former Baum Dancewear, which shuffled over to East Passyunk Avenue last year.) Syndicated quick-luncher Devon & Blakely, whose Philly location is at 18th and Market Streets, has signed on for the rest of the ground floor.

Hockfield tells me that he's also getting a liquor license and hopes to open in February or March.

As of now, the Wrap Shack name should remain, though Hockfield is promising improvements to the brand.

Josh Weiss of MSC Retail brokered the deal.
