You can still win free Federal Donuts chicken for life

Federal Donuts now plans to raffle off a golden ticket.

In a neat, Willy Wonkaesque promo last Saturday, Federal Donuts tucked golden tickets, each guaranteeing free chicken for life, into two orders.

One winner - a happy couple - was identified at the South Philly location. But the winner at the Center City location, however, never came forward.

Co-owner Tom Henneman believes that the ticket inserted into one of "a few hundred" orders at FedNuts' Sansom Street shop was inadvertently thrown out.

All is not lost. Henneman and partner Steve Cook are devising a second-chance deal.

They will raffle off a golden ticket, with all proceeds going to charity, "matched by us in some capacity," Henneman told me.

Expect more info next week.

The prize is good for a half-order (four pieces plus doughnut), valued at $9, each week.

But the ticket inserted into one of "a few hundred" orders at FedNuts' Sansom Street location had not been claimed as of 4 p.m. Sunday, according to co-owner Tom Henneman.

In an inspired promotion on Saturday, July 6, Federal Donuts inserted "golden tickets" in the boxes of two fried-chicken orders. They were worth a free half-order of chicken every week for life. Yvette Quesada, 33, of Juniata, and Anwar Sabreen, 34, of Lawncrest, won the golden ticket at FedNuts' South Philadelphia location that afternoon. But the ticket inserted into one of "a few hundred" orders at FedNuts' Sansom Street location had not been claimed as of 4 p.m. Sunday, according to co-owner Tom Henneman. "I think at this point, [the winner] unknowingly threw it out," he told me. "We let everyone know constantly all day about checking boxes."
