Oregano that's as pretty as it is useful

This fragrant bundle of organic oregano - dried and preserved intact, rather than crushed into oblivion - is a step up from your ordinary jar of dried herbs and a pretty addition to your holiday pantry.

Organic Sicilian Oregano, $3.99 for an .88-ounce bundle at Claudio's Specialty Foods, 924 S. Ninth St., 215-627-1873

A glass casserole dish that won't shatter

It used to be a frozen lasagna or casserole had to thaw before you could put it in the oven - otherwise, the glass dish would shatter. Not anymore: OXO's new line of borosilicate glass dishes can withstand those temperature changes. And, they come with snap-on plastic lids for storage.

OXO Good Grips 3-quart (9-by-13-inch) baking dish with lid, $15.19 on Amazon.com.
